UNO City
Vienna International Centre
The so-called "UN City" of Vienna is one of the four headquarters of the United Nations, along with the headquarters in Nairobi, Geneva and New York. Thus, the "Vienna International Centre" (VIC) is an important center of the worldwide UN activities for the promotion of peace, human rights and sustainable development.
In this sense, the UN headquarters, which employs about 5000 people, is a Viennese landmark of global significance. For it is from here that not only the peaceful use of nuclear and space technologies is ensured, but also the testing of nuclear weapons is restricted. In addition, the UN fights against global poverty, drug use, crime and terrorism.

You will gain insight into details about the methods and working procedures of the UN during a multilingual guided tour through the UNO City of Vienna. In addition to a conference room, you can also learn about the tasks of the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency), the UNIDO (Industrial Development Organization) and the UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees).
A special highlight is the piece of moon rock that is exhibited here by NASA. But art lovers will also get their money's worth here. Because in the VIC there are also exhibitions of original works of famous artists such as Hundertwasser, Nitsch, etc. to see.
Tours usually take place Monday through Friday at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. and do not require advance reservations. Registration is only required for groups of more than 10 people. Tour formats also include an interactive human rights tour and a vacation play tour for children ages 6-13 during the vacations. Don't forget to bring a photo ID!
