MUSIC ASSOCIATION

Music lovers should not miss the world-famous Musikverein when visiting Vienna. Many know the legendary "Golden Hall" in Vienna's classical music temple especially from the annual New Year's Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, which is broadcast by all TV stations in the world.

This imposing historicist building was built in 1870 according to plans by Theophil Hansen. Even at that time, the building on the Opernring caused enthusiasm among the population. This is because, in addition to the ornate Greek décor, the acoustics of the facility are unsurpassed anywhere in the world.

Musikverein Wien

The heart of the Musikverein, is the large Musikverein hall, also called the "Golden Hall". The heavenly acoustics of the room are further enhanced by the visual impressions: while Apollo and his muses hover at the ceiling, graceful ancient ladies form the columns of the hall. With great attention to detail, the "golden" impression prevails in the hall, which is draped all over in gold.

But the Musikverein also has other concert halls worth seeing. In addition to the Golden Hall, there are also the Stone Hall, the Glass Hall, the Wooden Hall and the Metal Hall, where the Musikverein takes its program beyond classical concerts. Highlights from the world of jazz are also performed here, as well as concerts for children and young people and even spoken theater.

But apart from concerts, a guided tour of the Musikverein also has a lot to offer. Because here you can discover the crowning glory of Vienna as a city of music in a whole new light. Namely, on a guided tour you will learn about architectural and historical details and can get a glimpse behind the scenes.
