ACADEMY THEATER

The Akademiethater in Vienna's 3rd district was built almost 100 years ago. Today, mainly contemporary German-language plays are performed. The plays are primarily intended to inspire young audiences for the theater. Steeped in history, the Akademietheater is part of the Burgtheater Wien. Since 1920, the Akademietheater has been used as a Kammerspiele stage.

CASTLE THEATRE
Universitätsring 2, 1010 Vienna
The Burgtheater in Vienna's 1st district is an Austrian federal theater. The Burgtheater, rich in tradition, has achieved world fame. It is considered one of the most important theaters in Europe. After the Comédie-Française, the Burgtheater is the second oldest European theater and the largest German-language theater. The theater was built in 1748.

MUSIC ASSOCIATION

The Vienna Musikverein in the first district, is known worldwide as a concert hall rich in tradition. The concerts of the Vienna Musikverein represent for music lovers a complete musical experience of the highest quality. This is because music greats such as the famous Vienna Philharmonic perform here. The famous Great Musikverein Hall, is considered one of the most beautiful and acoustically best halls in the world.

RAIMUND THEATER
Wallgasse 18-20, 1060 Vienna
The well-known Raimund Theater was named after the Austrian playwright Ferdinand Raimund. An association of Mariahilfer citizens founded the theater as early as 1893. Today, the historic house belongs to the United Stages of Vienna. The Raimund Theater in Vienna's 6th district mainly stages musicals. At the moment the theater is being renovated and rebuilt.

RONACH THEATER
Seilerstätte 9, 1010 Vienna
The Ronacher Theater was formerly known as the Ronacher Establishment. It was first built as the Vienna City Theater from 1871 to 1872 in Vienna's 1st district. Just like the Raimund Theater and the Theater an der Wien, it is one of the venues of the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien. Today, musicals are primarily performed in the Ronacher Theater.

THEATER ACCENT
Theresianumgasse 18, 1040 Vienna
Theater Akzent was opened around 1989 in Vienna's 4th district by the Vienna Chamber of Labor as part of the Adolf Czettel Education Center. Over the years, Theater Akzent has established itself as a fixture in Vienna's cultural life. Three different theater halls are available to the visitors. The program deals with current social issues.

THEATER AN DER WIEN

The well-known Theater an der Wien is located on the left bank of the Wienzeile in Vienna's 6th district, Mariahilf. It is operated as an association of the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien. Since the beginning of 2006, it has borne the nickname "The New Opera House". The Theater an der Wien has over 1,129 seats and 50 standing places. You too can be inspired by the diverse program.

One example is the Niedermaier cabaret, a popular insider tip. Among other things, performances by the famous children's book author Astrid Lindgren are staged here. Likewise, the Theater der Jugend is particularly popular.

THEATER IN JOSEFSTADT

The Theater in der Josefstadt, in Vienna's 8th district Josefstadt, is the oldest existing theater in Vienna. The Theater an der Josephstadt is considered one of the most successful theaters in the German-speaking theater scene. More than 350,000 people attend the over 700 performances per season. The building of the theater is real architectural jewel and really worth a visit.

THEATER NESTROYHOF HAMAKOM

The Jewish-themed theater Nestroyhof Hamakom takes up in a unique way topics such as interpersonal conversation, exclusion, racism, emigration in our society. Visitors are offered a wide variety of exhibitions, film screenings, readings and book presentations. They are also introduced to Jewish culture.

VIENNA'S ENGLISH THEATER
Josefsgasse 12, 1080 Vienna
Vienna's English Theatre in Vienna's 8th district is an English-only theater. The well-known theater was founded in 1963, making it the oldest English-language theater in Europe outside of Great Britain. In 1974, Vienna's English Theatre found its final venue at its current location in Josefstadt with the European premiere.

VOLKSOPER

The Volksoper offers you a varied and diverse program. Here you can enjoy world famous operetta, opera, musical and ballet performances. The Volksoper was built 120 years ago. VOLKSTHEATER
Arthur-Schnitzler-Platz 1, 1070 Vienna
The Volkstheater was formerly called the Deutsches Volkstheater. The theater in Vienna's 7th district was built as early as 1889. Hermann Helmer and Ferdinand Fellner made the designs for the historic building. Visitors will find the Vienna Theater across from the Natural History Museum. It is considered one of the largest theaters in the German-speaking world.

VIENNA CABARET
Vienna has always been known for its humor. Friends of humor can choose between a wide variety of excellent cabarets in Vienna. The Stadtsaal on the shopping street Mariahilfer Straße is one of the most popular cabarets in the city. Another really good cabaret is the Kabarett Niedermair. You too can be entertained by Vienna's cabaret scene.
