Augarten
AUGARTEN
The Augarten itself, a 52.2 hectare park in the French style, is also worth a visit. This park in Vienna's Leopoldstadt, contains the oldest baroque garden complex in Vienna.
The Augarten palace and gardens date from the early 17th century and were largely destroyed during the 2nd Turkish siege of Vienna.
It was not until the reign of Joseph I that the site was restored in 1708. Then the site was opened to the general public in 1775.
