SIGMUND FREUD MUSEUM

The Sigmund Freud Museum is located in the former home of Sigmund Freud at Berggasse 19 in the 9th district. The world-famous Viennese founder of psychoanalysis lived here until he went into exile in Great Britain in 1938, fleeing from the Nazis.

His youngest daughter, Anna Freud, has personally contributed to the authentic presentation of Sigmund Freud's former living and practice rooms.

Here, visitors not only get to see original furnishings. Freud's private collection of antiques and first editions of his works are also on display. In addition, the museum provides deep insights into the doctor's life story and his Austrian-Jewish environment. This is also underpinned by historical film footage, photos and manuscripts.

One also learns here about the history of the emergence of psychoanalysis applied worldwide.
